It's coming to the point in my relationship where it's either him or the cat. What can I do?

Move over, dude. Daphne was here first. Either you conform to her boundaries in her own home, or you get out!

Yeah, that's a red flag. If our protagonist thinks she will forever resent him for forcing her to get rid of her cat, then it means that this relationship has no future.

Self-procalimed "dog person" boyfriend refuses to stop antagonizing 28-year-old girlfriend's pet cat, she finally sets an ultimatum: "If the pet was there first, the pet stays"
There's only two types of people in this world: dog people and cat people. I'm just joshin' you. There's also ferret people, snake people, tarantula people, people that don't like animals, people that love all animals, and those of us that fall somewhere on the massive gradient of pet tolerance. I would personally consider myself a cat person. While I do like other people's dogs, I'd prefer not to have a pet that I have to commit to walking every day. However, regardless of what you identify as, everyone should have basic respect for living creatures.
In our story today, a self-proclaimed "dog person" tries his hand at living with his cat-owning girlfriend. He gets along pretty well with one of the cats, but the other, an ornery girl who knows her boundaries, is proving to be a challenge for him. Maybe it wouldn't be so difficult if he actually tried to get along with her instead of trying to convince her girlfriend to rehome her.
